Brown Bear Up-close Viewing

Coming in 2018: Brown Bear Renovation Project

Bear Canyon, one of the Great Plains Zoo’s oldest and most popular exhibits, is home to Kenai, a 21-year-old Brown Bear.

In summer 2017, the Zoo will embark on a complete renovation of the exhibit.
The project will include:

  •          Expanded habitat for the Zoo’s Brown Bears, including a lush Bear meadow.
  •          Up-close viewing opportunities for adults and children, including a training demonstration window.
  •          Additional animal holding that will ensure the Zoo meets modern standards for Bear management.
