Bringing U Great Stuff from the Butterfly House

Sioux Falls Zoo & Aquarium's BUGSMobile program provides an opportunity to meet invertebrates and other creatures from the Butterfly House without the need to travel. From kindergarten to retired adults and everyone in between, your group is sure to enjoy it when we bring the bugs to you!

Our BUGSMobile programs are built around state and national science standards, providing an enriching and engaging experience for ages 5 and up. We can travel up to 60 miles from the Butterfly House & Aquarium, to indoor locations, for groups of 40 or less.

Due to federal permitting requirements, the BUGSMobile can only visit locations in South Dakota.

Program information

Our 30 to 45-minute programs include at least three live animals, and provide interactive opportunities to see invertebrates, amphibians, and/or reptiles up close. They are perfect for small groups of 40 people or less.

Bugsmobile Registration

Start by completing the registration form below. Please indicate the program topic you're requesting and your preferred dates and times. Once the form is completed and submitted, a representative from our Education team will review your request and reach out if there are any questions.

BUGSMobile visits must be requested at least two weeks in advance and are not guaranteed until you receive a confirmation email.

Booking is now open for program dates on or after October 20, 2025.

    Each additional (up to 2): $50 (same date/location)

    Outside Sioux Falls City Limits: $2 per mile (one-way)

    *Sales tax will be added to all programs. If your organization is exempt from sales tax, please request a sales tax exemption form from Education@GPZoo.org.

    Severe Weather Closing: Due to the possibility of severe weather, cancellations are sometimes unavoidable. If your organization has a closing, please notify SFZA staff as soon as possible at (605) 367-8313 ext. 233. We will reschedule if possible.

    Classroom Animals: For the health and safety of your animals and ours, we are unable to present BUGSMobiles in classrooms or other spaces where animals other than fish are housed. If this will present a challenge for your organization, please contact us and we will discuss possible options based on the animals housed in your space.

    For the health and safety of our animals, we are unable to present BUGSMobiles in private homes. If you have a registered in-home daycare, please consider booking one of our other outreach programs (Traveling Animal Tales, ZooMobile) for your location.
